UPrograms are UM’s flagship semester-long study abroad programs offered during the fall and spring semesters. UPrograms are customized for UM students as a packaged experience which often include housing, travel, and internship opportunities.
Curriculum: One feature that makes UPrograms unique is a foundations course, which is specially designed to enhance and enrich your study abroad experience. Courses and co-curricular activities vary by program. In addition, students would have access to most of the curriculum offered at the program location. Though some partner institutions have limited academic scope, most offer a wide variety of courses for students in many different majors. Grades and credits: UProgram participants will receive letter grades and UM credits that will be a part of their UM GPA and count toward their degree progress. Credits earned through a University of Miami study abroad program are considered in-residence credits at UM, meaning you will fulfill UM's requirement that the last 45 credit hours be earned in residence. Seniors, juniors, and transfer students can study abroad on a UM program and still meet UM's credit residency requirement. Housing: Housing will be arranged for UProgram participants, the cost of which is included in the Program Fee (additional to UM tuition) and paid directly to UM. Should you prefer arranging your own housing, you would not be eligible for a UProgram; consider applying to a UM Partner Program—where you may arrange your housing privately. Duration: UPrograms are semester programs. Program dates vary by location.
Scholarships/financial aid: UM scholarships and financial aid can be used on all UPrograms. Students are encouraged to meet with a financial assistance representative at CanesCentral to verify how your scholarships/financial aid will apply to your study abroad program.
