  • Good Academic Standing

    Study Abroad applicants are required to have a minimum 2.7 GPA at the time of application to study abroad. Some programs have higher GPA requirements. 

  • Conduct and Integrity

    Study abroad students must uphold the standards of conduct expected of University of Miami students, whether you are on campus, traveling, or in your host country. Violations that occur abroad will be reported to the Dean of Students Office and investigated in conjunction with the partner institution. Sanctions may be assigned in accordance with the nature of the incident.

  • Good Disciplinary Standing

    The Office of Study Abroad will conduct a student disciplinary record check with the Dean of Students Office for participation in all study abroad programs. Students on final disciplinary action will not be permitted to study abroad. 

  • Study Abroad Timing

    • Students may study abroad after having completed at least two semesters in residence at a college of university.
    • Transfer and graduate students may study abroad after completing one semester in residence at UM. 
    • Four year students may study abroad as early as the summer after freshman year and as late as their final semester before graduation.
